Kyrgyzstan MBBS 2026 — Accreditation Status of Every University

By Dr. Dinesh Vishnoi, MBBS · Updated July 2026 · 6 min read

In June 2026, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Health issued a state accreditation order covering medical universities in the country. The results genuinely surprised people who'd been in this field for years — several long-established names received only a 1-year provisional status, while others we'd expect to see near the top passed cleanly with the full 6-year term. This is our attempt to lay out, honestly and without spin, what we currently know for every university we track in Kyrgyzstan.

Read this first: Accreditation status can change again at the next review cycle. Treat everything below as a snapshot from the June 2026 order, not a permanent guarantee — and always ask any university (or us) for the most current confirmation before you pay anything.

What "accreditation tier" actually means for you

State accreditation is the Kyrgyz government's own recognition of a university's medical program. It sits alongside — not instead of — a university's separate WHO listing and its presence on India's National Medical Commission's approved list. A university can be genuinely real, teach real medicine, and still receive a shorter accreditation term if the review found something the ministry wanted re-checked sooner rather than later.

6-year accreditation is the longest term the ministry grants — it signals the strongest current standing. 1-year provisional accreditation means the university remains recognised, but the ministry has scheduled a shorter re-review, which itself is a signal worth taking seriously rather than ignoring.

On the "Not yet confirmed" rows: We are not implying these universities failed, passed, or received any particular tier — we simply have not yet received or verified their specific status from this accreditation order, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than guess. Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in particular are long-established, well-regarded institutions; the absence of a confirmed tier here reflects a gap in our own documentation, not a red flag about the universities themselves. We're actively working to close this gap and will update this article the moment we have verified information.

What happened to the universities that aren't on this list

Separately from the two tiers above, the June 2026 order also failed a number of universities outright — these did not receive any form of continued accreditation. We removed every failed university from our own database the same week the order became public, and we do not list or recommend any university that failed this review, regardless of what other marketing material about it might still be circulating elsewhere.

Our own partner university's status

Asian International University (Kant) — our official partner, formerly known as ASMI — passed the June 2026 review with the full 6-year accreditation, the strongest tier available. This was a genuine factor in our own confidence in the partnership, not something we're claiming after the fact; we'd have told you plainly if the result had gone the other way.

How to verify any of this yourself

  1. Ask the university directly for a copy of its current state accreditation certificate, dated after June 2026.
  2. Cross-check the university's presence and current status on India's National Medical Commission's own list of approved foreign medical institutions.
  3. If a consultancy shows you a fee package for a university that failed this order, or that appears in the "not yet confirmed" list above without further documentation, ask specifically for their source and its date.
  4. Message us directly — we're happy to share whatever we've confirmed, including admitting when we haven't confirmed something yet, as with the two universities above.
